Join our team of dynamic literacy tutors
Augustine Literacy Project - Triangle trains, places, and supports tutors at partner schools to deliver free, one-to-one, science-based literacy instruction to students who need additional support. Twice weekly, our tutors deliver in-person reading instruction at elementary schools in the Triangle region of North Carolina.
Children can begin falling behind as early as kindergarten for a variety of reasons, including limited access to books and rich language experiences, learning English as a new language, or undiagnosed learning differences. Early intervention is key to prevent those gaps from widening over time.
Our program aligns with the Science of Reading and uses the evidence-based Orton-Gillingham approach. Through multi-sensory, direct, explicit, structured, and sequential instruction, trained Augustine tutors deliver free instruction twice weekly while building students’ confidence through consistent, caring relationships.
